1. What this notice covers#

Ascended Core is an open-source TypeScript project maintained by Third Eye Cyborg, LLC. It includes reusable contracts, privacy patterns, events, provider ports, adapters, and related developer packages published under the @third-eye-cyborg npm scope.

This notice applies to the Ascended Core source repository, its public npm packages, examples, and software integrations or bots that you build with them. It is separate from the consumer terms and privacy notices that apply when you use Ascended Social as a service. The hosted Ascended Social service, apps and website are proprietary and are not open source; open-source licences apply only to Ascended Core and other components that say so.

2. License and package use#

Ascended Core and the public packages are offered under the Apache License, Version 2.0, unless a particular file or package states otherwise. The applicable license is included in the repository and package distributions. Read the Apache 2.0 license before redistributing or modifying the software.

  • Preserve required copyright and license notices when distributing the software.
  • Include required NOTICE information when your distribution calls for it under the Apache 2.0 license.
  • Do not represent a downstream product as an official Ascended Social product or imply endorsement without written permission.
  • Review each package’s published metadata and included license files; transitive dependencies may carry their own terms.

Browse the source repository or the public npm package scope for the current package list and release information.

3. No warranty; downstream responsibility#

Ascended Core is an early-stage developer foundation. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the software and packages are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. The Apache 2.0 license controls the warranty disclaimer, limitation of liability, and redistribution rights.

Using Core does not by itself make an application secure, private, compliant, available, or suitable for a particular purpose. You are responsible for your own threat model, authentication and authorization, validation, secrets, deployment, monitoring, backups, accessibility, age-appropriate design, legal review, and dependency obligations.

Core is not a substitute for medical, mental-health, financial, religious, spiritual, legal, or other professional advice. Any downstream product that provides AI, wellness, or spiritual features must present its own accurate disclosures and safety controls.

Federation packages in Ascended Core are planned and experimental and are not part of the Ascended Social service today.

4. Bots and automated agents#

A bot or automated agent that connects to Ascended Social must also follow the API Terms of Use, the Acceptable Use Policy, and any applicable network rules. A bot may operate in a network only after an authorized network owner or administrator installs it.

  • Keep bot tokens and other credentials out of client code, logs, and public repositories; revoke compromised credentials promptly.
  • Make the bot’s automated nature clear and do not impersonate a person, staff member, or another service.
  • Request the minimum permission scopes needed, respect rate limits, and avoid spam, scraping, profiling, or unsolicited contact.
  • Give people meaningful notice where the bot collects, generates, or acts on content, and provide a way to contact its operator.
  • Secure webhooks and verify signatures before processing inbound events.

Core itself does not create a hosted bot service or decide what data a downstream bot stores. The bot operator is responsible for its behavior, content, permissions, privacy notice, retention, and legal compliance. Ascended Social may suspend access or remove a bot that creates risk or violates applicable rules.

5. Privacy and data handling#

Ascended Core is a software library, not an independent data controller or hosted database. Installing a package does not send application data to Third Eye Cyborg. Your application, adapters, hosting providers, AI providers, analytics tools, and bot integrations determine whether data is collected or transmitted.

If you use Core as part of Ascended Social, the Ascended Social Privacy Policy and related privacy choices govern that service. If you build a separate product, publish a privacy notice that accurately explains your own collection, sharing, retention, security, and user-rights practices.

6. Security, support, and contributions#

Please report suspected vulnerabilities privately using the repository security policy. Do not post exploit details, credentials, personal data, or active attack instructions in a public issue.

For usage questions, consult the support guide and repository discussions. Contributions are subject to the repository’s contribution, conduct, and licensing requirements.

7. Trademarks and attribution#

“Ascended Social,” “Ascended Core,” the Ascended Social mark, and Third Eye Cyborg branding are not granted to you by the Apache 2.0 license. You may accurately identify unmodified software as Ascended Core and provide a factual link to the repository, but do not use the marks in a way that suggests sponsorship, certification, or official affiliation.

See our Open-Source & Third-Party Attributions page for broader notices covering Ascended Social’s hosted products.

8. Changes and questions#

This notice may be updated as the repository, package scope, bot platform, or applicable requirements evolve. The repository license and the terms linked above remain controlling for their respective subject matter. Questions about this notice can be sent to [email protected].
